13,233 residential and commercial units were launched in 1H2018 : Rehda

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian property developers launched a total of 13,233 residential and commercial units during the first six months of 2018, said the Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association Malaysia (Rehda).

According to Rehda’s Property Industry Survey 1H 2018, 40% of the 152 respondents had launches during the period, with 51% take-up rate. In 2H 2017, a total of 15,082 units were launched but sales were lower at 45%.

Of the total 13,233 units launched, 12,522 units were residential while the remaining 711 units were commercial. 

Rehda president Datuk Soam Heng Choon said landed homes remained the popular choice as the majority of units sold comprised two and three storey terrace homes. 

Speaking to reporters at a briefing today, he said property developers are aligned with market demand and affordability, with 65% of launches comprising homes priced RM500,000 and below.
