KUALA LUMPUR: State governments are required to identify land in their respective states for affordable housing projects to the Housing and Local Government Ministry by the end of this month.

Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said it is the responsibility of the state governments to offer their spacious land for the development of affordable housing.

“As data showed, only 27 land out of the total 127 affordable housing projects around the country were supplied by the state government. We need to address this matter and see a hike in the number of land supplied the state government,” she said at an industry-government open dialogue by the Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute here today.

She said increasing the collaboration and partnership between the federal and state government is one of the ways of looking at the issue of affordable housing.
