KUALA LUMPUR: State-owned investment arm Khazanah Nasional Bhd has not had any discussions on appointing foreign board members, said Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

“We had the first board meeting about a month ago, no discussion to that effect. We will continue to discuss because we need a strong representation of the board that are familiar with the issues. We need a professional team to run and manage the board,” he told reporters at the sidelines of Khazanah Megatrends Forum 2018 today.

Azmin, who is also a board member of Khazanah, said that the board has not started considering any such move.

He was responding to a report by a local daily that Khazanah is considering appointing foreign candidates to its board of directors in a move to tap on diverse expertise.
