July natural rubber output up 36.3%

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s natural rubber output grew 36.3% to 56,397 tonnes in July from 41,364 tonnes in the previous month, according to the Statistics Department.
 
On a year-on-year basis, natural rubber production saw an increase of 2.1%.
 
It said the average price of latex concentrate was recorded at 415.39 sen per kg whereas the average price of Standard Malaysian Rubber 20 (S.M.R. 20) was 527.80 sen per kg, both diminished at 5.6% and 3.2% respectively compared to the average price in June.

Malaysia’s natural rubber exports amounted to 56,490 tonnes and showed an increase of 7.8 %. China remained the main exports destination, accounting for 52.4% of total exports in July, followed by Germany (11.6%), Iran (7.6%), Finland (4.3%) and US (2.5%).

On another note, domestic consumption of natural rubber in July increased by 8.3% to 44,192 tonnes from 40,820 tonnes registered in June—with the rubber glove industry being the main consumer, accounting for 33,518 tonnes or 75.8 % of the total domestic consumption of natural rubber.

The level of natural rubber stock decreased by 5.4% to 185,491 tonnes compared to 196,084 tonnes at the end of June.
