YTL THP JV Sdn Bhd appoints Datuk Sri Azmi Abdul Aziz as its Chief Executive Officer. Datuk Sri Azmi brings over 33 years of experience in the public and private sectors of the transportation industry to his new position. The YTL-THP consortium has received a Letter of Intent from MyHSR Corporation Sdn Bhd to serve as the Project Delivery Partner (PDP) for the southern portion of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (KL-SG HSR) project.

Datuk Yeoh Seok Hong, Director of YTL THP JV Sdn Bhd says, “We are very pleased to welcome Dato’ Sri Azmi on board to lead the YTL-THP team in this exciting period. His vast experience in the transportation industry, particularly in transforming public transportation infrastructure in Malaysia adds great value to the YTL-THP management team. Indeed, he has already had a role in the planning stages of the KL-SG HSR project during his previous tenure at SPAD, so it will be immensely satisfying for him to also oversee the actual construction process.”

Prior to joining YTL-THP, Azmi was the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Prasarana Malaysia, a company owned by the Ministry of Finance Inc, specialising in public and private property and infrastructure facilities. Prior to that, he brought Prasarana to greater heights by transforming its primary role as an integrated public transport provider for intra-city rail and bus services.

During his tenure as the Chief Development Officer at the Land Public Transport Commission, Azmi contributed to formulating the National Land Public Transport Masterplan, developing and setting up Transport Policies such as the Urban Rail Development Plan, and planning and supervising the KVMRT Line 1 and KVMRT Line 2. YTL-THP is a Project Delivery Partner for the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail.
