PETALING JAYA: My E.G. Services Bhd (MyEG) aims to expand its housing for foreign workers, MyHom programme, to Penang, Kedah and Selangor soon.

“Our focus is on states with many industrial areas like Penang, Kulim in Kedah and Selangor. We are already exploring opportunities in Selangor,” executive chairman Datuk Dr Norraesah Mohamad told reporters at a briefing today.

She said the MyHom programme, which started in Malacca last year, aims to offer safe and comfortable housing for 1.5 million foreign workers who work in industrial areas nationwide.

To date, it has completed its first block of apartments in Masjid Tanah, Malacca, which is being occupied by 1,400 workers. It will be starting construction on the second phase of apartments in Masjid Tanah early next year, which will accommodate another 2,000 workers.

MyEG also recently leased 8.8 acres land from Johor Corp in Tanjung Langsat and Pasir Gudang for the MyHom programme.

Norraesah said it is also in discussions with Johor Corp to expand the programme to Sedenak, Pengerang and Muar.

The stock closed unchanged at RM2.15 as at 3.18pm, with some 2.32 million shares changing hands. It has a market capitalisation of RM7.68 billion.
