Ringgit unchanged versus US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened unchanged against the US dollar, in early trading, this morning, as investors and traders stayed on the sidelines.

At 9.05 am, the local unit was unchanged at 4.1350/1400 against a US dollar

“The market is awaiting data on Malaysia’s foreign reserves for the period ended Aug 14, due later today, to decide the next course of action,” said a dealer.

The local note traded lower against a basket of major currencies.

It continued its decline against the Singapore dollar to 2.9445/9487 from 2.9414/9452 on Thursday eased against the yen to 3.3498/3544 from 3.3363/3411 yesterday.

The local unit depreciated further against the pound sterling to 6.4882/4973 from 6.4589/4675 and weakened against the euro to 4.6473/6542 from 4.6039/6111 on Thursday. – Bernama
